A Modicum of Presence

Nihilism
A thought that spreads like a plague throughout the mind and body
Devouring the meaning of soul while ripping apart the fabric of life
The values of the highest degrade into ash
Reduced by the people that attempt to uphold them
Ants scattering about in search of reason and answers
None are available except the truth of personal interpretation
The creation of quandaries of complex thought are as fleeting as the molecules of air that surround us
A cry rings out and then it is gone

Altruism
But what of the people, the ones who care and try to retain the values?
Are they swept away, without a thought or care in mind?
Ambition does not guide them
Love does not guide them
The motivation of altruism is derived from the lack of values in nihilism
The sense of purpose and need to alter reality for the betterment of all

A being is given a chance in their life
A chance deny all those who believe that nothing will change
That one can make something good come out of nothing
The existentialist catchphrases rings out
What will you do? Why will you do it?
Maybe you don't know why or how or what yet.
Maybe you can't know why or how or what.
To deny oneself the experiences of life is to fall victim to the nihilist tendencies that blanket the mind in a thick fog

We are given one life
One chance to make the world a better place for us and everyone
Take this life, live it, and pierce the sky with it
That all may see the sorrow and joy that radiates within a being
